“So he hands me this tiny box and when I open it, I see a stone inside; an actual stone, not a gemstone. The worse part was he looked pleased with himself, like the stone was worth a million dollars”, she explains between sniffs.

A bit confused I ask, “So let me get this straight, your husband gave you a stone, an actual stone, for your birthday?”

“Yes!!!” she starts sobbing again. “He said it was a metaphor and he thought I would understand. That the stone represents the strong foundation of our love and that with that we can face anything”

Pause Wonders shall never end. Excuse me oh, what did I just hear? Who does that?? There are so many unanswered questions here. Now I’m catching a glimpse to why she was balling her eyes out yesterday. So this guy promised her he was going to give her this big surprise gift and then he couldn’t afford it, so he decided to be cheesy? Is that what is going on here?

My thoughts are interrupted by “Sarah, are you still there?”

“Yes hun, still here. I was trying to wrap my head around what you said, is all”, I quickly reply.

“I know it’s strange, isn’t it? Newlywed husband of the year gifts his wife a stone for her birthday. What a headline! You know for a second, before I opened the box; I thought maybe I was going to see the keys to a car or a new engagement ring or something fancy. Definitely didn’t see this coming.”

Still perplexed by what I’m hearing, I ask, “Ermmm….Okaayyyy, so what happened afterwards?”
